When I was there in 1978 on my Norton Atlas the glacier was very much larger than it is today - it was truly a shock to see how much it has retreated.  We're doomed without a doubt Captain Mainwaring.

I did this on a 2012 K1600GT, she was a bad bike, overheated twice on the way up, however, she didn't overheat on the way down.  I am on my third K16, thinking of a R1250RT next.
