Removing vignettes without marking screen

Post by Easyrider5258 »

Any tips in getting these off the screen without damaging / marking the screen please, not trying to resell, just want them off, does the glue used in these vignettes actually mark the screen? trying to avoid little opaque squares where the vignettes have been (new bike so being a bit precious) :)

Hot hair dryer then peel it off using finger nails has always worked for me.
Never left a mark on the screen.

When in certain countries (eg Switzerland)  and you use their motorways, it is compulsory to have a Vignette sticker. This is effectively a road toll.
If you don't use the motorway you don't need one. However, if you do use the motorway and get spotted without a Vignette, the fines are hefty. It is a crazy unfair system for the occasional user. There are better ways, but the powers that be don't care, as they like robbing the tourist!

At least the Austrians have the good grace to sell you one for 10 days rather than a year.

In fairness, in Austria the 10 day vignette only costs about 10 euros for  a bike which is probably cheaper than the tolls in France for an equivalent mileage.

Agreed to both observations. My beef is mainly with the Swiss.

Czech Republic even better, with cars and lorries required to buy a vignette, but motorcycles are exempt!👍🙂

A razor blade hand scraper applied carefully to lift a corner and then slowly peel off with fingers has worked for me without incurring any damage to the screen. The vignettes are deliberately designed to come away in umpteen pieces when peeled off, so peel off slowly and evenly! Any glue residue left on the screen can then removed easily with a perspex-friendly cleaner.
