Spliting brake callipers

The pistons/seals can be changed without splitting the calliper.

The calliper halves "O" rings are available, just a case of getting the correct one.

This guy has, GS (same as RT) caliper overhaul,

No mention of a new "O" ring between the two halves, looks like the old one was re-used.

Looks a lot more difficult with Brembo Monoblock calipers,

The OEM BMW Part No. 34112338257 is a Repair set brake caliper (D=32/36MM) as per Motorworks too.

Ted Porter's BeemerShop do a caliper rebuild kit which replaces the BMW OEM part,

The kit shows three small "O" rings, for the caliper halves.



If the calipers are split, the Motorworks link for the "O" ring is this,

But, how many are required, three or one, the video only mentions one, I'm confused.com.

The problem I was having is that one out of eight of the front caliper pistons would not move under normal operation of the brakes, thus i was considering a piston rebuild. However by securing the other seven pistons and using the brake lever hydraulic pressure against the isolated stuck piston I got it to move, after working back and forth it is now free, although not as free moving as the others. I will run the bike once the weather is nicer for a few hundred miles then have another look.
