I finally traded in my R1200RT after 15years!

Post by gadgetgaz »

Hi all, I finally did it. I traded in my 2005 R1200RT that I've owned from new for a 2014 Callisto grey R1200RT LE with, seemingly, every option.
Very happy and can't wait for it to be ready to pick up next week. It's getting its 6000 mile service early and a new front tyre. I'm going with mates on a 4000 mile trip to Greece in the Summer and didn't fancy doing it on a 15 year old bike even though I know it could have easily done it. Looking forward to owning the next phase in BMW engineering (compared to the hexhead)!

Hope your trip isn't "virused".  >:(
You should find your new bike absolutely ideal for a 4000 mile trip.  8)

Nice you're getting a newer bike.
But 6000 miles in 6 years.... what was the original owner doing? I had 23000 on my '14 in 2 years before chopping it for my  '17 MY.
Vini, Vidi, Velcro....... I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Thanks gogs01, I know it will, I once did a 3000 mile trip on my 2005 and it was easy so I'm expecting greatness from this one! We're all a bit worried about the trip but hoping things will be a bit better by then.

Have a look at Covid-19 travel advice for EU. They are locking down all countries and not allowing non-EU people in. Looks like it’ll be for the next few months.

Yes we're keeping a close eye on it and hoping we'll have got over this thing by August. If not, we've wasted all our ferry monies. :(
