Using a Nav VI on a 2009 RT?
Hi guys, new here. Just acquired a lovely 2009 RT to go with my R1250R. The R came with a Nav VI which I would like to use with the RT. I am guessing that I need to acquire another cradle and then get it wired in? What type of cradle can I use as the only ones I have seen for sale are the type with a few buttons on the left side of the cradle?

Looking at this thread on BMWMOA, https://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.ph ... other-bike and as far as I know, the only other option is a Garmin Zumo 660/665 cradle. They are now discontinued but may be some floating around.Yanto Maan wrote:What type of cradle can I use as the only ones I have seen for sale are the type with a few buttons on the left side of the cradle?

I just changed one on one of our blood bikes. You will probably have to make a bracket, but you need a 660 cradle or Nav V cradle without the buttons, which is a GS fit. I got ours off UKGSER forum for £35, keep an eye on there, quite a few are not swapping to the new XT sat nav so cradles are starting to appear for sale

BMW offer a genuine bracket which accepts both the BMW & Zumo Nav. cradles.
Other non-OEM brackets are available too.

This is what you're looking for in terms of a cradle. It should plug straight into the loom for switched power.
I bought one from there in order to use the Navigator V on a Yamaha.
Look at Hornig or Wunderlich at Nippy Norman for a suitable top-of-dashboard mount.
Hope this helps ......

Looks like they are indeed still available, https://www.activegps.co.uk/garmin-zumo ... nt-kit.htm at a cost.David. wrote:The other option is a Garmin Zumo 660 cradle. They are now discontinued but may be some floating around.
Confirms to be compatible with the BMW Nav. VI.

Thanks that is expensive but maybe simplest way although I wonder whether just buying a second sat nav is a better option lol
