According to Oxford County Council there is statistical evidence that " motorcyclists are a danger to themselves". This was apparently stated in an official briefing document according to the BMF.

It seems that the Council had to amend the document after criticism but it still appears to be based on dodgy evidence.

Re: Oxford County Council's View of Motorcyclists
We have one bus lane in our county- North Lincolnshire. It is 50 metres long and has restrictions on other vehicle use for 2 hours per day ( 1 hour morning and 1 hour late afternoon), Mon to Sat. What a complete waste of time and effort marking it out and signage. To cap it all, nobody takes any notice of it at anytime of the day and I would love to know how many motorists have been caught and fined-probably big fat zero.

Yes same up our way , some barmot decided to put bus lanes and made a shambles of it , most motorists do not know what the restrictions mean they look at you wondering why you are in that lane as if you are from Mars even though you are allowed as long as you adhere to the allotted times . :vader:

We've got quite a few in Chelmsford, all restricted to buses, taxis and bikes. Seem to work very well as most are clearly marked although one catches people out regularly.
