I have a similar rattle up to 4K. Comes in when engine is at operating temp. To me, it sounds like the timing chain. It's really not bad, it's just this old mechanic's ear is too sensitive. Mine is a 2007 so it has the new style tensioner with the check ball, as does yours. I've been thinking about installing the adjustable tensioner. How did it work for you?

Cleaned F&R brake calipers & pads, plus replaced air filter on my 2012 TC.

Re: What did you do today?
I've just took the rear shock off my RT - it was refurbed only 500 miles or so ago, but I think it would benefit from an uprated spring, so it's going off to the guy who did the refurb. Oh, and I've ordered a new Shock Factory unit for the front too - adjustable for compression and rebound, unlike the 'one bounce fits all' original one!

Re: What did you do today?
Decided to move the mount for my Zumo 660 today. It was mounted on the left handlebar with a RAM mount system but I found in normal sitting position, I couldn't see the left hand side of the speedo. Decided a while back to make a mount that goes on top of the dash and is held in place with the 2 screws that holds the dash in position. Finally got round to it today, not the tidiest of pieces as my welding leaves a lot to be desired, but it will do me.
After dismantling the left side of the bike and the fairing to access the wiring, I found I could extend the wiring from where it was mounted and didn't have to go cutting cables or finding plugs to dismantle, which to me, was a bonus. Anyway, managed to get the wiring where I wanted it and once I buttoned all the fairing back in place and added the new mount, I find it all works brilliantly.
The new placing for the mount is directly above the centre of the dash so a lot easier to see my speedo now and doesn't interfere with the screen in any position. Just got to add some pads tomorrow to take care of any vibration etc. that may be in it.
All in all, quite a productive day, one I'd been putting off for some time now.

Trip round the Cotswolds with my friend on his Royal Enfield today. Strange thing about his bike is everywhere you stop somebody wanders over to talk about about. Two today, one in Moreton in the Marsh and then another in Burton on the Water.
Couple of weeks ago a chap asked him how long it took to restore it, don't think he believed it when told it was 11 months old.
