R1250rt oil warning error
R1250rt oil warning error
I have a brand new R1250RT. At the 400 mile mark, the “check oil level” warming would appear. On using the sight window, the oil level was over half way I.e. no problem.
After the running in service, the same warning appeared, no less than 4 times on a 150 mile journey. Each time, the actual oil level was fine.
I noticed that switching the ignition off and immediately on, seems to silence the warning.
The dealer has no idea why this is happening.
Any thoughts, anyone?

To be fair,,,the owner shoudnt be asking forums for a dealer on a sub 500 mile bike,,,,,could be a faulty sender or worse a blockage, still personally id be sat at the dealers till it was sorted..be

Possibly a faulty oil level sensor, can the dealers plug in their diagnostic equipment and look for a fault code.Cmatthews wrote:Any thoughts, anyone?

I have always had that problem too. I just keep the oil level at 3/4 of the window full and it does not happen any more. Not a problem.

Re: R1250rt oil warning error
I’ve had the same problem a couple of times on my 2005 RT, a warning appears on the display. Upon checking the oil level it’s as it should be. It disappears after a short time.
Re: R1250rt oil warning error
Same. on my 05, It usws very little oil between oil and filter changes so I ignore it.
Re: R1250rt oil warning error
Thanks all for the advice and observations. The dealer is trying to work out a solution - I’ll let you know the outcome.
Re: R1250rt oil warning error
Problem solved through drastic step of replacing the engine. Apparently one other bike - in Germany - has the same intractable problem. So they have shipped my engine back to Germany for intensive investigation. Thank you Motorrad - astonishingly good customer service.

Yes indeed. I’m out every day, with the sole intent of getting to the run-in service, as quickly as possible!
