keeps getting stuck in gear
Re: keeps getting stuck in gear
Spray the linkage with GT85(great stuff) then after a couple of days spray with oil and repeat after a week or so. If your still having problems seek professional advice.

Re: keeps getting stuck in gear
If the bike meets the criteria for a BMW Insured Warranty, consider taking one out, wait a month, then wheel the bike into your nearest BMW dealer!
Re: keeps getting stuck in gear
ok, i will leave it a few days and take it for a ride
it seems to be worse after the bike has been running a while (ie warm gearbox), and only happens when changing down into 3rd or 2nd. this lends me to believe it's a worn gearbox, as oppose to a sticking linkage

The GS 'is' the better bike :-)
Re: keeps getting stuck in gear
i'm not spending money on insured warranty, or having a gearbox stripped. i will sell the bike if i can't live with the problem
it's been a great bike, but very expensive to maintain

Take one out at £35 per month, get the bike fixed then cancel the payments.ds99 wrote:I'm not spending money on insured warranty.

May struggle with this bit,
Any costs resulting from your motorcycle being kept in an unroadworthy condition or not being serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. If we believe that a recurring fault is due to poor maintenance of your motorcycle, we reserve the right to request proof of servicing and to specify immediate recovery to an authorised BMW Motorrad Retailer or BMW Motorrad Service Workshop.

Re: keeps getting stuck in gear
update..
i sprayed GT85 maintenance spray on the linkages, and brushed with an old toothbrush, then i covered the linkages in chainsaw oil
the problem went away!
