Congratulations. Do tell us why you decided to go for a "slower" bike - what advantages does the 1250RT have over the K16.

Never really got a feel for the K16, it was super fast and smooth, had no vibration, but it always felt heavy. I like the boxer motor, started with a R100GS/PD, R1100RS. R100GS. R1150 GSA, R1200GSA, K12LT, R1200RT, K1600GT and a couple ST1300s sprinkled in the middle. Did a USA Four Corners trip on a 15 RT back in 2015 with a harley buddy (https://www.facebook.com/groups/822670284467512 ), but traded it for a K16GT for some two up riding. I do fit better on a GS or GSA (being 6-4) but am never going off road and bags are always extra $$$ and the windscreens are practically useless. Thought about getting a Africa Twin, but after thinking it over (not going off road) decided on another RT. It's a good bike for us old guys. The only mods I'll probably do is crash bars and get a custom seat. We have a guy about an hour from me that's made custom seats for the last 2 bikes. Good luck with the new bike - I think the R1250RT is a fabulous bike, but then the K1600GT and the GSA are fabulous too if you can manage them.
I'm of an age and physical condition that finds me fearful of dropping my R1200RT in very low speed manoeuvres so, although I love the bike, I'm trading it in for a new F900XR. It won't be an RT, but I'm hoping it will restore my ability to push the bike in and out of the garage, perform feet-up U turns and paddle about in gravel car parks.
My younger brother has just gone back to a K1600GT after some years on a R1200RT. He's bigger and fitter than I am and loves the power and smoothness of the six cylinder bike. Horses for courses ?
