Pannier locking mechanism seems to be worn.

Post by Glencoe »

When returning pannier to the bike my pannier locking system is proving difficult to close.
The handle is no longer closing, causing the mechanism to fail to secure the pannier and to lock it to the bike.
Has anyone replaced the mechanism on the pannier, can it be replaced?
Thanks for any advice.

I had a similar issue with mine.  The handle wouldn't push down, because the securing 'foot' wasn't popping up properly.

I took the case apart and removed the liner.  It was then obvious what the problem was.  In my case, the mechanism just needed some lubrication to ensure the 'foot' could move as intended.

I have taken the covers apart, it would appear that the linkage is worn and loose, so in effect too much play. Need to try the dealer for replacement parts, if there is such a thing?
Thanks anyway.
Take care.
