Hello all,
Just about to start a valve clearance check on my 2011 Twincam and I'm struggling to remove the Primary Spark Plug black plastic covers. I know, this may sound crazy but I don't want to damage either the Covers or indeed the Cam Covers paint. So then is there a knack, do I insert a screwdriver blade and if so where. As usual the Haynes Manual is vague, "ease out the plug cover in direction shown to avoid breaking it". Help !!.
Most basic task, but help !!

The primary spark plug cover needs to be prised away from the valve cover at the bottom, as per the photo in the Haynes manual.
There is a tab at the top which acts as a kind of hinge.

I use a plastic tyre lever to get behind the cover at the bottom, taking care not to damage the wiring.
Alternatively, hooking something behind the cover and pull whilst holding at the top will prevent it flying out as in the video.
