Speaker Connectors for R1200/1250 RTs?
Speaker Connectors for R1200/1250 RTs?
I am looking to install an Autocom unit into my RT and would like to hook up to the speakers without having to cut or posi tap into the speaker wiring.
Having done this before in my old R1200RTs in the past I know the speakers have simple connectors and if I could locate a set it would allow me to connect the Autocom without the need to "hurt" the BMW wiring loom.
Does anyone know what the speaker connectors are or where to buy them?

The North American version uses 2 pole part # 83 30 0 402 344 REPAIR PLUG, 2-PIN - NO. 610619Available from BMW dealer for around $23cdn.
I used it to change mine over to put the audio thru this LINK
I then connect this to a Sena SM10 Bluetooth transmitter...works great. This all goes in the Left glove box.

I think that is the GPS connector rather than the one for the speakers. I will try and post a phone later if I can work out how!bighopper wrote: The North American version uses 2 pole part # 83 30 0 402 344 REPAIR PLUG, 2-PIN - NO. 610619Available from BMW dealer for around $23cdn.

You might think that it is incorrect, but I used it as I said on my bike, & it fits & works.

The ex-Autocom employee at Chainspeed used Posi-taps for the installation on my bike. The marks made by the Posi-taps are almost invisible after removal. Just don't worry about it.
Hope this helps (and you don't have OCD),

Very happy to take your word for it, but the links did not show me the plug and socket part numbers that I could use on this side of the pond???bighopper wrote: You might think that it is incorrect, but I used it as I said on my bike, & it fits & works.

I know that posi taps are good (unlike scotch-locs, that are the devils own creation!) but I would like to do the job "properly" rather than bodge it in.

From what I've seen, the speakers come complete with a short length of wire which has a plug/socket fitted. BMW have a selection of what they call repair plugs, a plug/socket with a length of wire attached. If one of the speakers is removed, it may be possible to match up the plug/socket to a repair plug at your local BMW dealer.TJRL wrote:Does anyone know what the speaker connectors are or where to buy them?

If your Speaker plugs are 2 wire & I suspect they are then this 2 Pin plug is correct, even though it doesn't show that on the Fiche from BMW.TJRL wrote: Very happy to take your word for it, but the links did not show me the plug and socket part numbers that I could use on this side of the pond???

Yes, my wires are 2 core. So I will order one set and if they are ok I can order another set for the other speaker later.bighopper wrote: If your Speaker plugs are 2 wire & I suspect they are then this 2 Pin plug is correct, even though it doesn't show that on the Fiche from BMW.
Thanks all, I will report back!
