Wunderlich Performance Controller - anyone used one??

Post by ds99 »

2007 R1200RT. (Everything is factory standard)

I have one of these "Wunderlich Performance Controllers" coming in the post

Has anyone ever used one an on RT? If so, any tips?

I am looking for it to help improve the acceleration a bit. Is that possible?

The instructions look a bit complicated, so if anyone has used one...please offer some tips! Thanks

This guy on GSClubUK seems happy with the WPC fitted to his 2005 GS. http://gsclubuk.org/forum/showthread.php?p=39032

Found these instructions, are they any less complicated that the ones you've already seen.

They don't look quite as complicated as these from Wunderlich themselves.

I haven't used a WPC but have read the instructions. I'll try to summarize my understanding if that's any help.

The WPC would appear to be a "seat of the pants" manual fuel to air ratio adjuster. It has six modes, one of them being acceleration (yellow).
Theoretically, adjusting the fuel to air ratio will alter the acceleration characteristics. So yes, an improvement may be possible.

Ignoring the installation instructions, they just seem to be "plug & play".

The "Mode" button selects which mode you are in or wish to adjust. In every one of the 6 adjustment modes the settings can be adjusted to the left (less) or the right (more) with the - and + buttons. The range is 0.5 to 8 as indicated by the 8 LEDs. Haven't read it anywhere but presumably, the higher the number, (to the right),  +ve adds more fuel.

The coloured diagrams at the bottom of the instructions may help to explain things easier.

PS. I'm no expert, just trying to help. Most modern engines to run lean to meet the emission tests. I've had some changes made to the fuelling on my 2012 Camhead and yes, IMO, it has improved how the bike rides. I hope you experience the improvements you are looking for with your Hexhead.
