Instrument Glare

Post by JMMorford »

I just got my 2018 RT in January and am on a month-long cross country tour to visit old high school classmates.  The bike has been great so far (1500 miles and three days),but the glare on the instrument panel is super annoying.  Considering how well it is engineering generally, the reflection of the silver handle bars on the instrument panel is surprising.  I bummed some black electrical tape from a stranger and improved it some, but I should have covered all the forward surfaces on the bars.  Other suggestions?

I agree. I think they should add a thumb switch to intensely illuminate the screen for quick viewing.  Every second with your eyes off the road is dangerous, and the glare/reflections of the screen is poorly designed.  They should create a dark tunnel by extending the plastic around the screen; that'd help with the glare a bit.  I don't wear white shirts because of the reflection, but you've given me a good idea with the black tape.
