new to this forum.. just an observation..

Post by Ducati2 »

I am with my 5th BMW and very excited about my newly acquired 2015 RTW.    I have a long history of memberships to forums and I noticed this forum seems to be pretty shy regarding input.  I know it depends on the topic thrown out, but on average it seems we are lucky to get one reply within about 100 views on a topic.  As I am new to the RTW, I suppose I am just asking to please freely give input to questions so I can learn about this bike.  I hope to meet some of you someday!

Welcome to the forum. I prefer one correct answer to 100 speculations and wrong info. Do find answer good and relevant on here most times. Some of us UK are meeting in Monmouth 9th 10th july.

There are lot of knowledgable folks on here so any questions will be addressed. But I urge you to use the search function as well. Most topics have been covered many times before. Welcome. Things to look out for, stuck exhaust flap, plenty of discussion around this issue :)  Also have a look and join the LT (luxury Touring) forum, lots of RT owners on there, mostly North American based, but plenty of us from here are also posters on there.

Can I suggest setting your location and bike in your profile. It helps people give more relevant advice.

I kind of figured the radio silence was due to us Yanks posting on a UK forum?

I have been trying to share my initial impressions on my new RT coming from a GS for others wishing their GS was a better touring bike. While the GS is an amazingly versatile bike, it can be pretty miserable after a few hours of highways. I’m guessing that 80-90% of the US GS owners have never ventured off the tarmac. If willing to give up the long way look, they might actually start enjoying the long way again on an RT?

Maybe I just need to start a US based GS to RT forum and leave you guys to your beautiful UK rides! 😎

The forum was set up by STeinar, who was living in Norway at the time, now Austria. The www. can be accessed by anyone, not just UK owners.

Perhaps the 2021 RT is still fairly rare in numbers at the moment, this may be a reason for the lack of model specific input.

This isnt uk site. Same bike same problems worldwide would be a shame to narrow pool of knowledge to individual countries.

Don't forget about the differences between RHD (UK) and LHD (US) bikes.

Viewing the "Member Map" shows where owners are located around the world.
