E10 coming

Post by Iscadean »

I’ve got a 2011 rt. there is a lot of information in local fuel stops saying E10 fuel will be replacing E5. Does anyone know what effect, if any, E10 might have on the engine?

What does your rider manual say. E10 is fine for LC models 2014 + Tesco is already selling E10 fuel here in Norfolk.

If in the UK the garage forecourts will still have premium unleaded which is staying at E5 for the forcible future, well it is according to a mail I got yesterday from Shell :) it just costs more :)

We’ve been on E10 here in the US for years. I use it in all my vehicles and have not noticed any problems, but I do add a fuel stabilizer when I park the bikes over the winter. No issues.

Manual does not mention E10 simply ROZ/RON and AKI grades. It is a 2011, hexhead.

The GOV.UK website E10 checker confirms that all BMW Motorrad models are compatible with E10 fuel.

If in doubt, in the UK, use the super unleaded (higher octane) fuel which is still E5 and recommended for pre-LC models.

It's always been the case that super unleaded (98 RON - E5) should be used. Alternatively, premium unleaded (95 RON - E10) can be used with slight power and consumption related restrictions.
