Who else remembers STP?  And who else had an STP sticker on their helmet, for hooning around on their FS1-E?

I'd be pretty sure that UK fuels which begin at 95 octane are better than USA fuels which can be 85 octane. Tesco momentum is 99 and that's what I give my RT. In Germany I've seen 100, a really heady mix. Never needed an additive.

Us lot this side of the pond don't suffer from 3rd world fuel grades so no need for such old world concoctions. :alas:

You have to be careful comparing with other countries as they don't all use the same formula to get the octane rating, USA uses AKI which is around 5 points lower for the same fuel in the UK on RON  ;)

Yep. Got my Big Brothers Orange Open faced Bell ( complete with STP) & his red Honda Bog Seat - when he traded upto BSA A10. Loved that Honda 50 - freedom and King of the road ( even though no one would flash me back cos I had L plates). :-*

I use Premium petrol for most of the year but if it doesn't look like I'll be using the bike for some weeks / months I'll switch to Super in the hope that it won't degrade as much as Premium.  I've never used a fuel additive and I'd be very wary of putting anything other than petrol in the petrol tank.  Never had any bother with carbs or fuel injection (touch wood !)

This is a good price (£8.99) for the Putoline stuff, https://www.dirtbikebitz.com/Putoline-F ... gJlQPD_BwE

I've order two, 325ml will do 50 litres, enough for two treatments in an RT.

The 325ml size (RRP £11.99) is being discontinued, after that, you'd have to get a 150ml size (RRP £5.99),  enough for 20 litres. Not sufficient for a full tank.

Two 325ml bottles arrived today, if I don't use either bike this year, should keep me going for the next 3 years.

DirtBikeBitz only have 3 left in stock.

Used the last of the Putolene stuff in my RT. Bought some Motorex fuel stabilizer from a local motorcycle dealer for the XJ650 when it gets tucked away.
Might be more relevant now if using E10 fuel.

I like the Sta-Bil 360 Marine (ethanol treatment and stabilizer). This worked well for my previous boats as I would add the specified 1 oz. per every 10 gallons of fuel in my topped-off gas tank at end of season. Then would run the engines for a few minutes to get the treatment in the fuel lines. Never had any fuel related issues with my boats in the past 6 years while boats were stored for 7 months.

My RT will not be ridden regularly until next summer so I've added 1 oz. of this stuff to it's tank during the wet & cold winter months of rare riding days.

STA-BIL 360 Protection might be a good option for fuel stabilization, fuel system cleaner and ethanol treatment.
