Filled up the bike today, first time since 30th December,  not been out on it much so far this year, ☹
£31.49!!!
I've never ever put that much money's worth in any bike I've owned.  Bonkers!

What a rip off in the UK, as of Wednesday, Tesco is £6.66 per gallon, on today's exchange rate @ 1.33 US to the £, Colorado price is £2.54 !, I want to live there,

£1.57 for premium and £1.44 for standard E10. Last week standard E10 was £1.34 and £1.46 for premium. So a massive jump since the Ukraine problem started. I think that is only the start of the pump price increases.

What you have to remember is that the fuel on the forecourts was purchased before the crisis in Ukraine.  Seems to me the oil companies are make more money while they can

Local Esso is now £1.61 per litre, for "standard" E10.  He's not the dearest around here (Thames Valley) either.  Seems to be going a penny or two per litre, every day.


Petrol was not this expensive when crude oil last breached the 100$ per barrel level, but the oil companies are getting back the profits they lost when we were in lockdown.  They will all be reporting record high mega profits in the coming months.  Good for your pension scheme (possibly) and the Green Lobby will love it.  It just means that I will use a bike more than my car, if things get really tight.  So, there is always a silver lining!

The only winners are the petroleum companies and the taxman. By law, fuel stations can only raise their prices when they receive a fresh tanker load. At the moment there is no reason for a price increase as there is millions of fuel in their storage tanks. Read somewhere that oil refineries store up to 6 months of fuel at a time. They have only increased the price because the barrel cost may go up in the future. Hence having the pennies for then.  They blame what's going on with Ukraine but that should affect the prices for months. Suppliers just look for any reason to empty our wallets quicker

The other winners are the investors who own oil company stock. I’m always amused by those who whine about higher energy prices but fail to hedge themselves by owning oil company stock and sharing in the profits through increased share prices and dividend payouts. It’s not difficult.

Most of us can't afford to buy shares at £366,47p per share. You would need to buy a fair few to make it worth it. I have a good retirement package plus 4 private pensions. Even with that income, i couldn't tie money up for years.

Just back home from a hastily planed trip up to bonny Scotland covering about 750 miles. Fuel prices over the three day trip ranged from £1.82 a litre at my local Shell Station to £1.65 (bargain !) in remote Lossiemouth with a highest price of £1.86 (highway robbery !) in Pitlochry. All prices where for Super E5 grade. Average consumption according to the bikes electronics (2011 Twincam) was 60.4 MPG.
