Fairing catches
Fairing catches
Taken side fairing off, the piece with the silver bmw badge and 1200rt badge on.
It should attach near where the radio buttons are but there seems to be two
Small pieces of plastic snapped
Off, has anyone had this problem and how did you get over it

Yep well know problem. I think you can buy a repair kit. But I have repaired quite a few by making some ali tabs and just glueing them on with JB Weld. Do a search on bmwlt.com and possibly on here for tab repairs

My glueing method with ali/tin tabs has lasted 6 years on one bike, so there are plenty of diy solutions

Re: Fairing catches
Got the tabs on both panels, solid piece of metal so should do the job for a few years. When i originally broke the tabs i tried to glue them back on which was never going to work. Now the new tabs are on i see how you could knock some up out of ally and save yaself some cash.

Mk2 attempt-
If need be I'll sand it after I've offered it up to the bike.Managed to track down what BMW use,so that will be going on when I finally get them on.Better stay put this bloody time

Re: Fairing catches
OK,
I've repaired many ABS motorcycle panels. Having a good key and getting it very clean are what you need for a good bond.
I was thinking about them tabs you are fitting the other day. If it was mine i would of drilled some small holes in the tab so the JB weld pushed though them to help with the bonding. I degrease everthing as well with panel wipe.
