On the Horn

Post by Doctor T »

Having a look around the wishbone joints this morning i notice d the bike is fitted with 2 mismatched horns. One looks like a Denali mini sound bomb/ Fiamm snail type and the other looks like a standard round M/C horn. Both work when the button is pushed. The joining link wires look professional. Is this a normal setup for a 2007 RT?.

I do believe that the Hexhead RT's had Twin Tone Horns as standard. With the introduction of The Twin Cam model this was replaced by a single Flat type horn
I recently replaced the Single type on my 2011 Twin Cam for a used pair of the far better sounding Twin Tones from the 2005-2009 Hexhead.

Only a single horn!. Accountant cutbacks. My bike horns are much louder than on my Wife's Mini which is also fitted with twin Snail type horns.

IIRC it's only the early 2005 RT that had twin horns, 2006 onwards has a single unit which I had on my 2006 model. The horn on my 2022 is another matter, twin tone and loud!

My 2008 Hexhead had the Twin Horns which looked like an original fitment to me. There again, maybe some one had done an up-grade prior to me getting the bike ?.
