Just ordered a Zumo XT, but the Adapters are out of stock

Post by potatan »

After reading a number of comments I've ordered a Zumo XT, on the understanding that I would get a mount from the Italian place - this one: https://www.adapter3dmotorrad.com/en/product/e-nav-xt-rt/ - to take care of power needs etc.

The Zumo is now on its way to me but unfortunately the 3d Mounts are out of stock.

What would you do as an alternative arrangement? I'm due to be travelling in around a month or so!

Thanks

I bought 4x 40mm 4mm bolts, 4 x 18mm x 4mm spacers and a BMW accessory cable from Motorworks which plugs into the same socket the Nav powers from. I then mounted the XT cradle in front of the Nav cradle. Just to finish it off I also drilled 4 holes in the Nav blanking plate so the new mount sits in front of that, so it looks original. Not a hard job and looks good. You will need a tool to be able to release the Nav as you can't get to the button when its mounted, but a cheap trim removal tool works fine and this is a bit of added security :)

Here are some photos of how I fitted a TomTom mount for a Rider 550. Now removed and replaced by a Quadlock mount for my phone. Used sheet plastic to make the face plate and spacers. Last photo shows BMW plug that the Nippy's socket fits for switchable power.

Thanks so much. To be honest I'd have made a trip to meet you just for a good blast, but as someone spotted they are now back in stock and I have one on the way.

Thanks again

Glad you have a solution. When you get yours do post a short review with some pics.

Thanks Sakm. Not personally interested in the Garmin XT myself but always interested in seeing other peoples solutions.
