The Northern Monkeys are back
After a brief hiatus, the Northern Monkeys are back. Two weeks ago, Simbo, Michael(c2710) and I met up in Morrisons at Wetherby. We were out again yesterday too. It's great to see that Chris (k9doc) one of our founder members is back on two wheels. I was thinking of starting a new thread and this has prompted me to do so. Wetherby was chosen as geographically it is approximately an hour away for all those who had expressed and interest in meeting up.
Going forward, is the idea of trying to meet up say once a month appealing to others. If you've got any ideas for ride outs within the NM's area, fire away.
Back in 2017, Simbo took the photo.

Re: The Northern Monkeys are back
Howdo David, good to see the Three Caballeros still living the dream and keeping the Northern Monkeys alive. I seem to remember that photo being taken at Wolds Village, Bainton, during a run around the Yorkshire Wolds. I enjoyed the Monkey Runs as well as our trips around Wales and Dales/Lake District. Was looking for a photo from one of the early (if not the first) Monkey Runs when we met at the Mining Museum and headed for the Peak District but they seem to have disappeared.
Once the 'new' bike has been fettled I'll have to see how things go but it would be nice to do the Monkey Runs again. Methinks it may take a while to regain 'bike fitness'.
BTW, the 'new' bike has a strange little lever called 'choke'. No idea what it's for. . Will need to google it.

There you go Chris, when only RT's were permitted.k9doc wrote:Was looking for a photo from one of the early (if not the first) Monkey Runs when we met at the Mining Museum and headed for the Peak District but they seem to have disappeared.
Your memory serves you correctly, here is the thread with some more photos, BMW R1200RT / R1250RT forum - The BMW R1200RT/R1250RT forum

Here's hoping, but right now I am awaiting a knee operation and struggling to even get my leg over my RT's seat!

Re: The Northern Monkeys are back
Traditionally, the NM's have met up at Morrisons in Wetherby.
Looking at Google maps, an alternative could be The Cottage Coffee Shop near the river Wharfe, https://www.facebook.com/TheCottageCoffeeShopWetherby/
May be able to park outside or down by the river, https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.92704 ... 6?hl=en-GB
Any comments from those who are likely to attend future NM events.

Re: The Northern Monkeys are back
Next week I get one knee operated on. No idea where the other one is on the massive NHS operation backlog, to get that one fixed. Hoping to get more than the paltry 50 miles I managed to do last year! Fingers crossed, back in the saddle joining the Northern Monkeys for some ride outs in the summer .
