Replace Antenna Base

I have an 09 r1200RT and the antenna base has split. How do I access the back to replace. There was a previous post from 2018 with a link which no longer connects. Ant help appreciated.

Remove the right turn signal and you should be able to reach and hold the cable connector and turn the antenna off. You may have to remove the painted mirror trim piece you give you enough room to turn the antenna base.

So I have a '07 R1200 RT and need to replace my antenna base.
Can you be a little more specific on removal of the right turn signal. As I recall, I had it off once before and there was little to no room there (could be mistaken). I had the dash apart kind of when I was installing my audio system and wanted to tap into the speaker wires but it was wayyyyyy tooooo tight so gave up.

Help is always appreciated,
