R1300RT?
With all the rumours of the R1300GS what's the likelihood of BMW releasing a R1300RT?
From reading about the GS has either had some frame changes or a new frame which if its the latter then a R1300RT would probably be the same so it wouldn't be a case of a new engine and fairing
It would be interesting to see how it develops as I have always thought the 1200 could do with a bit more go low down the rev range
I also think they would have the same design as the 1250 with the shiftcam

With the expected arrival date of the GS going from 22 to 23 it'll probably be 2024 before they release a 1300RT? I can't see much changing to the GS other than an extra 50cc to the engine, adaptive cruise and mirrors with blind spot warning, so I can't see much change to the RT is going to happen at all? They're all gearing towards electric vehicle's these days, so I'd imagine that's what their future development is focused on.

The bit I can't get my head around is that Yamaha dropped the FJR1300 due to stringent Euro emissions that they could not meet with the 1300 with rumours that they would have to drop to a 1000cc with a turbo/supercharger like Kawasaki have done. I think there is a long way to go before electric bikes are 1. affordable 2. decent range and 3. fast enough charge times I think we have a little while with ICE before that takes off
Is there bikes out there now with blind spot mirrors? I'm not a fan of these sort of driving/riding aids as it takes the driving/riding out of it and can make people lazy and trust the tech.
The timeline for the RT is 2005-2009, 2010-2013, 2014-2018, 2019-Present so maybe 2023/2024 is maybe the time they bring out a new model?
It would be interesting to see how they make a brilliant bike better than what we already have and is 50cc justifiable for just a change?

Ducati's Multistrada and Triumph's new Tiger have them, the GS is playing catch up in the tech & power dep't with those bikes now.

I know they are playing catch up with the power but wasn't aware any bikes had blind spot mirrors every days a school day
Maybe they should shoehorn the K1600 engine in there! that would definitely sort out the power issue

c650gt has a blind spot warning.
If a 1300GS does come out it may be a chance to buy a 1250 as they would be heavily discounted to get them out of the salesroom. Shame my 31" inseam is too short to ride one.
A parallel 4 or 6 engine would make the bike even taller.

I think I need to start paying more attention to newer bikes and the tech
I was looking at the Ducati multistrada last night ( @simbo's fault ) 170 hp from the V4 and service intervals of 9k or 24 months and 36k for a valve check
I must say I do like them!

You'd be suprised Doctor, I'm only a 32" inseam and with the suspension spring set in the low position with dynamic damping I can easily flat foot it. You have a choice in what spring hight to set each engine mode up for, I usually have 'auto spring hight with dynamic damping' in dynamic pro, then low spring with soft damping in road mode for when the missus is on the back.

When is too big for a twin, especially a Boxer? 1250? 1300? 1500? 1800?

Bumpy motor, loads of rock when throttle moved and way too wide to filter in heavy traffic on the hot day that it was. Heavy bike too.

Am off to BMW Brighton soon to get another fuel strip replaced. I've booked a test ride on a GS whilst mine is in. As for an R18 Transcon, I've test ridden one. Suited my kind of long distance, no cramped knee but i could never pick one up that had fallen plus they cost more than my first house cost. Sakm not sure how to take your attack on blind spot tech... Even if it only saves you once it is worth it.
What everyone should be doing is watching YouTube dashcam footage of car drivers so obviously applying makeup/smoking/arguing/texting while they are driving. Anything that let's you know you are close to something you can't see in your stock RT useless mirrors sounds like a sound investment to me.
BTW does anyone know where to get a good fairing or bar end mirror for a camhead as I have looked on the net but so far only see models that will require machining to adapt?

I am all for rider and driver aids but the problem is a lot of drivers/riders take it gospel and rely on them way more than they should which only helps them use their mobile phones all the more and makes them lazy in there driving/riding.
They think blind spot mirrors are there so they don't have to look! which isn't true they are an aid you still have to look.

Point taken, not attacking but I maintain that tech only has to save you once. When I drive the daughters Range Rover Velar I don't even see the blind spot LEDs in the wing mirrors unless they come on. I am never looking for them, just using the mirror when i see the light on... It has saved me a few times so far.
The other point is that the mirrors on the RT are sub standard. This is especially true if one needs to lean forward against the tank bag when cruising at highway speeds. At least fairing and handlebar mirrors are able to be adjusted easily in these situations.
I guess the mirrors match the usefulness of the speakers... I'm still trying to locate the ashtray and the mirror-ball

I don't have a problem with the stock mirrors they seem to be well thought out and give me a good field of rear view.
