I’ve noticed since I’ve had my 1250rt since April this year I’m getting a rapid series of pops from the exhaust on deceleration at 2000rpm, this happens every single time no matter which riding mode it’s in.
Just wondered if anyone else has this “feature” ….?.

Re: Deceleration popping 1250RT
Normally this is caused by a secondary air valve that puts air in to the exhaust to ignite the unburnt fuel
I don't think the RT's have one though
Another cause of it is a leak in the exhaust
Its nothing to worry about it is just unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust and pretty common on the majority of bikes

Have to agree popping on deceleration is mostly down to unburn fuel. Are you fully letting the throttle close? Easy to have it slightly on with thick gloves on. Saying that these bikes run lean due to the euro emissions. My 2007,1200 pops on hard deceleration and across sites ive seen the same topic raised a few times. Seems the norm

Thanks for the reply’s,
It does feel like over fuelling as at the same time there’s a very slight surge in power \ throttle. It only happens at 2k rpm though, deceleration from high revs is like killing the ignition !.
It’s a small thing unlike the motor being killed on steep inclines which also correspond with a sharp bend… that’s another story …
