2015 R1200RT BRAKES BLLEDING

Post by itdoesntmatter »

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum and in need of Help! :o Earlier today, I decided to do the brakes maintenance on the RT. I had the speed bleeders, GS911 WiFi, etc. Everything looked easy... until I screwed up and let the brake fluid get below minimum in the front reservoir. Now I have no front brakes :-D .

Any idea how to solve this? I mean, the fluid won't bleed now and when I pull the front brakes... nothing.

Hi Dan and welcome to the forum

You will have an air lock within the brakes stopping the flow of fluid

There is plenty of ways to resolve this

The cheapest and quickest but the dirtiest way is to pump the brake lever then hold it back and crack the banjo bolt on the master cylinder

but a word of warning!! you must have a lot of rags wrapped around the banjo bolt and you will get brake fluid coming out so everything in the area must be covered

Alternatively and my preferred method is to use a large syringe with a bit of pipe on and push fluid up from the caliper to the master cylinder then bleed as normal

Or you can use the syringe and pull fluid down the line with vacuum

Thank you so much! I will try the syringe method and see if I can get it to work. I can't believe how fast I got a response...

Thanks everyone... I used a syringe that I found in the kitchen :) Easily I pulled from the caliper using a short piece of tubing; completed the bleeding and everything works as it should.
