Dealing with corrosion!
While the bike was on the ramp I noticed that the left throttle body was pretty badly corroded in a couple of places
And to be Honest looking at it I think someone has had a go at it before
I took the plunge and removed it and removed all the lose flaking paint gave it a sand to rough it up masked it up and gave it 4 coats of black hammarite smooth
And to be honest I am pretty impressed with the result! the paint is a very good match to the original
While I was at it I also stripped the spot light brackets as they was showing signs of rust showing through
I was also pleased with the outcome of those too

Not that its going to matter as you can't see them with the fairing on but I know its done

Those springs look pretty tough to disengage… tempting to use brush hammerite

Yes I agree! But at least they have something you can use the pull the springs
Others I have removed have just the spring

Put the bike on the centre stand and place washers between the gaps in the spring, push the bike off the stand and the spring stays extended and easier to remove. Repaint the stand then reverse the procedure.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

Its different on the RT There is actually something to use as leverage too
But that way looks a cracking idea

Never had trouble removing a spring using one of these
Although I've never used the washers for spacers,that is 1 I shall remember and use in the future
