Foot peg lowering kit for RT

Post by vennie »

After reading a few comments on here about these and members sharing their experience on getting these from china I took the chance and ordered a set from Ali express. Cost me £37. All in. Arrived yesterday, a week earlier than delivery date. Royal Mail delivered.
Looks well made and nicely finished, goodly supply or pins and bolts and spacers and bushes, but no instructions. So if anyone can provide fitting instructions would be appreciated. Especially Info about the single plate.

At £37. Cheaper than I could have made them for given the cost of buying aluminium nowadays, not to mention the time and associated swearing and moaning that would have been involved.
Need to see if they will take my weight now once fitted. Which is next weeks job.

Got the foot peg lowering kit fitted to my 2010 R1200 fitted over the weekend. Quite a straightforward job. The hardest bit being to relocate the heavy spring into place.
I did not use the master cylinder relocating plate or many of the other parts sent. The 2010 did not require it so lots of spares. Only used the heavy pins.
Although the drop is only 1&1/4 inches. The difference in position is starting. What a positive difference. Was not going to adjust footbrake or gear leaver, just going to get used to it, but found a minor oil leak from one of the casing bolts and had to remove covers to fix so lowered both.
They take my 90kg with no complaint and must say well impressed with them. So much so that I have ordered the handlebar risers now as well.
I use a sheepskin on my seat which adds about an inch in height so angle at hip and knee is much improved.
Going to do the NC500 this year so that will be the real test for the changes.
And sorry did not find out what the long bolt is for. Pic below is of all the stuff I didn’t use.

Hi

Hope they help, have had a set, but I’m some 40kg heavier than you and they look good, but would think aluminium machined by any company would be of the same strength

I fitted my Amazon-sourced cheapo kit in 2021, with absolutely no problems experienced since. For such a small increase in ‘drop’ the difference in comfort is surprising.

Mine have been great since fitting. Make a big difference to comfort and decreased knee stiffness on longer rides. I also step on them when getting on and off with no problems They take my weight well.
Adding a gel seat has also helped big style.
Enjoy.

I got mine from suburban machinery and they’re great. I just don’t understand why there are so many parts in some of the other kits. Suburban machinery was a very simple set up.
