Tank bags: can one off a K1200 be made to fit an RT?
OEM tank bags for 2010-13 R1200RTs are like hens teeth. I’ve been looking at ones made for the K1200/K1300 and wondering if one of them can be adapted. Anyone know if that is possible?

A tank ring system can be used with some longer bolts and spacers, this one is by SW Motech.

This is how i converted my old Tiger 1050 magnet tank bag to fit my 07. I purchased the strapping, buckles etc from Amazon. A lot cheaper than buying a new bag.
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.

Removing the OEM tank bag rail will leave four screwed attachment points for any straps. The Hornig tank bag uses the rear two under the seat and hooks under the tank rail at the front near the screws. A shaped bag (inc. Hornig) will then probably fit more securely on the tank, rather than wobbling about on top of the tank rail. If using a tank ring system, spacers would not be required.

Thanks to everyone for the various ideas and guidance.
I think the answer to my original question is yes, especially if the rails are removed.
I have decided to go with a Lomo tank bag because they are exceptionally waterproof and I can use some of the ideas given in this thread to secure it.
Lomo are out of stock and may not make anymore anytime soon. I got their last ex-display one.
