Unlikely, especially when a servo buddy can be fitted to clear the warning light.

You won't

Anything before the 1250 won't bring on a light and I suspect this is due to emissions laws ie it has to be fitted and working hence it can't be removed and you also get a warning light if it stops working

Its a bit like the days of catalytic converters and DPF filters when they started to be rolled out at first they was optional then it became legislation

In the early days you could remove a DPF filter from a diesel car without any issues and EGR valves but from around 2008 ish that all changed and now you get all sorts of warning lights

If a warning light is on the dash relating to emissions it will fail an MOT

AFAIK, emissions are not tested on a motorcycle MOT.

They aren't but I am pretty sure that you still can't have warning lights on the dash you certainly can't for cars and vans etc

Can't find any mention of "warning lights on the dash" within the motorcycle MOT guidelines.

Cars fail the MOT if the DPF light is on. It is classed as an engine malfunction. One way to clear the warning light is with a black sharpie. I did this to cover up the brake ABS fault light.
Back in the 90' i had a Yammie 1000 with the EXUP valve. Many people had problems with it. As long as it was greased and the cables were oiled well you didn't get any problem. With my old full power V Max with the same valve was a pain and whatever i did i stuck open 99% of the time.

With a motorcycle, the condition of the engine isn't part of the MOT, this may therefore exclude any warning lights on the dash.

When it comes to ABS, the warning light is on until the bike reaches a certain speed as measured by the rear wheel ABS sensor. The brakes are tested separately, so the light will be on when checking the front brake and same with the rear unless the appropriate speed is reached.

I mean why would you? you wouldn't know if there was any other issues

It's an interesting discussion, When I asked if any warranty work had been done on my bike before I bought it I was told the exhaust flapper valve had been changed.
but I failed to understand the significance. I had a VMax and the only valve I remember was the one between the carbs. :?

On my BMW service history, it was noted that the ABS unit was faulty 4 years ago. The previous owner just stuck a bit of black tape to cover it and passed 4 years of MOT with no advice. At night it drove me mad as i could still see it flashing. ABS not working didn't bother me as i had researched the problems of this model for 6 months before i purchased the bike. When the girl got her MOT in November, John the Tester said as long as the brakes perform to within the limits it will pass. ABS is not tested on bikes anyway.

You must mean the new Vmax, The original carbed versions didn't have one. I retrofitted the butterfly valve and servo to my Spanish Vmax and added the little black box that opened the butterfly at 3,500 revs I think the final drive gearing was different on the restricted versions also, making it fun to ride up to it's well know chassis limitations ;)

David. wrote: Sat Mar 04, 2023 9:19 am The reason for asking is that there is some flexibility with the warranty. You are allowed to go 1 month and/or 1,000 miles past the due date or mileage. The other thing is that the warranty can be cancelled and part refunded but when I last asked, there was a 25GBP admin fee too.
My extended warranty is up on 27th June, I don’t think I’ll take it out again. Here’s some pics of the service history that it had since new.
