Final drive boot

Post by audibob2 »

I have just inspected my final drive splines at 12000 miles, and they were in great shape. Trying to get the driveshaft back onto the output

spline was a real swine though.

I used staburags 30 PTm grease on the rubber boot.

There are people who use red rubber grease, and some guys use a bathroom sealant , which then dries overnight.

By using staburags, I can move the outer edge of the seal away slighlty from the swingarm and final drive seal faces as it does not cure, but of course

there is grease inside to repel water.

Has anyone used a bathroom sealant ?
