Weather protection
Weather protection
Saw that this topic was discussed on the German RT Forum and must say that we also noticed during our first ride in the rain that our boots became more wet than on our previous bike, maybe not mine but my passengers and also the inside of her legs.
Since we do not always ride on dry roads in Sweden (do you?) I decided to give the weather protection package a shot. These parts were originally design for the R1200RT-P version (authority vehicles, read = Police) but can now also be purchased as original spare parts. My BMW dealer had not a clue about these parts but as service to him I had printed out all the required part Numbers (from BMW WebEPC) and suddenly was the problem solved. They were available in stock “Vaterland” and the Swedish price was €175 (acc. to info only €120 in Germany)
Easy to fit and don't look too ugly (?) but unfortunately there will not be any opportunity test the benefit of these before we have get rid of the white stuff we have on our roads.
Looking forward to the ice free roads, Happy New Year,
Kari
Have attached three photos; parts included, right side as original and left side with the fitted parts

Re: Weather protection
Nice for you 7vwh, rather fair price both in UK and DE.
Seems that we have to support the Swedish poor suffering BMW dealers more than just the tax difference.
Hope you will be satisfied with the improvement and the appearance but, as you should have noted, no guarantee to any of these from my side (Please, don't shoot the messenger) 8)
"Popped in to Rainbow...". Could this have been meant for you Pope?

These (below) may fit the pre-2014, looks like the left side exhaust in the image!

Re: Weather protection
Thanks, Ann and I are headed for a big trip this summer and these may be a really good option. If she is dry she is happy and in turn I will be as well. I think these, a VStream windshield, crash bars, and bar risers will be all we need for the trip.
This has been a very interesting site for me. I have enjoyed the discussions from those around the world. The different points of view are very unique to me. We are thinking of going to the Isle of Mann in 2016 and we will gather experience from this forum before we do.

Weather protection
These look like the 'Infill' panels that I have on my 2013 RT and can highly recommend them. They prevent all the dirt and spray coming through onto the back of the panniers or the pillions legs.7vwh wrote: Bud,

Love my family almost as much as my 90th anniversary RT
Re: Weather protection
Originally developed by Pyramid Plastics who make them in silver or black for £51. Wunderlischt ones are £72. They both fit all 1200RTs 2005-13

Re: Weather protection
Fine with further posts from all other well informed RT owners. The panels I installed were the OEM parts for 2014- Your knowledge has clarified the possibilities for bikes up to 2013
Hope I have not misled anyone with my initial post in this topic

Re: Weather protection
You certainly have not. I for one had no knowledge of the bits for the 2014 bikes and will be down my dealer next week about them.SweRT wrote: Fine with further posts from all other well informed RT owners.
