I had slime in an FJR when I bought it

I found out that it reacts with aluminium and over time will corrode the bare alloy! I had to have the front wheel replaced as there was pitting all over the place with holes as deep as 3mm which is scary on a rim that was 5mm thick

Thinking about slime again. The rotation of the wheel flings the slime to the outside of the tyre carcase and when at stop the liquid settles at the bottom of the tyre. So in theory there shouldn't be any contact with the TPM inside the wheel.

You would think but no. I use to use Ride On in my Harley wheels and when you take off the tire to replace the majority would be stuck around the inside of the tire but there is also stuff on the rim everywhere too. I don't use it on my BMWs as the TPMS sensor is not sealed.

No they are not. Got an answer from BMW with a picture where the hole is. The newer smaler one have the hole at the end.

What year is your bike? Mine hasn't got that hole

Bikes in my info at right. Ride On says sensors need to be hermetically sealed so sealant won't damage them. Contacted BMW and they said their's are not, longer older ones and new short ones have the hole which they pointed out. Probably best to contact actual maker, Schrader for real answer. Both my BMW part number ones have the holes as they stated. Why yours doesn't who knows.

anyone got a fleabay link for a kit they recommend? Always meant to get one and throw it in the pannier... just about to fit a new tyre so a punture is likely

Haven't a clue why mine has not have a hole. I had a good look at them 2 weeks ago whilst fitting new tyres. Going through the service history, they seem to be the original ones from 2007

I’ve just received the Two Tyres puncture repair outfit that I ordered. A nice looking and comprehensive bit of kit, loaded with tools, glue and strings (I bought extra strings) plus four gas cartridges in a bag that fits nicely behind the speaker cover on the RT LC.

Just need a pair of work gloves. I have some extra CO2 canisters that i haven't used. I carry an air pump these days. You can have them if you want, we meet up.

Thank you, but like you I carry an electric pump… I’ll add a pair of garage gloves to the kit, from what I’ve seen I’m bound to get my hands smothered in glue!

Proworks from XL Moto, I bought it years ago and only used it once, wasnt a good experience.... chased it a round the garage floor for a while then resorted to tyre levers, thought I would give it a go again but this time I bolted it to my bench, that made a big difference. Still hard work but each time it gets easier.... didnt get instructions with it and the you tube video is not a lot of help.. definately not as easy as the video...
