Read yesterday to repair all the potholes, it will cost £24 billion. Going to have to be some big savings or massive road tax increases to fund that lot.

The issue is that all the money raised from road tax is spent on - well, just about everything except our roads

Why is it that folk always refer to the deplorable state of UK road as a "Pot Hole" problem. This only serves to detract from reality. The defects commonly referred to as Pot Holes are only a small part of the overall Road Construction and Maintenance regime which here in the UK is a joke. One only has to travel to Continental Europe to appreciate what properly constructed and maintained roads are like. Even if we had unlimited funds available do you think that we have the infrastructure of Engineers, Operatives, Equipment, Materials, "No How and Will" to construct roads to the standard enjoyed by, lets say the French, who incidentally don't pay Road Tax !!, I think not. Currently there are long stretches of all classes of roads in North Yorkshire being subjected to the annual and much dreaded "Tar and Chippings" scandal. Or to give this medieval practice it's technical name, "Surface Dressing". Having said that it is interesting to note that the recently resurfaced Donnington Park Race Track is bringing rave reviews from the Racers. Wonder who did the job ?. Roll on some Summer and some Continental riding and Driving.

Its the same old problem in the UK wait till its totally delapidated then try to patch it up , roads and traffic works are a joke how many times do you come to a right turn on a road junction and there are no functions in the traffic lights to let you go so motorists do 100mph or get stuck on a red and what joker decided to put traffic lights before and after roundabouts ? hence total traffic jam on roundabout AAAAAAAAAAAggggggggggg.
