Bmw 28L top case ?

Post by Panman40 »

Does anyone know if the smaller 28L bmw case will hold 1 full face helmet ?. My wife likes the security of the 49L as a backrest but the thing is very heavy. I’m thinking the smaller case would be lighter for day trips.

Thanks for the link Steve, I did come across that one and a few more from the forums. Looking at prices and yet again bmw have made this prohibitive to me… £280 on ebay which was within scope but no backrest pad or lock cylinder included which are another £120 odd on top :( . No dice.

I had a 28 litre box and my Nolan n104 fitted in just fine. Wife wanted the bigger 49l , bigger back rest plus more room for female parafernalia...

I sold my 28l box for £150. In really nice condition with a new lock and barrel. The back rest was perfect. Perhaps it was too cheap.

Buyer was really happy though..

I've got a 29l one lurking in the loft because it wouldn't take my XXL Helmet (ohh er missus).
For Sale if anyone's interested.

If I was to ride solo then the 28litre box would still be on the bike. It did not look out of place with the normal large side panniers.

The dealer selling my bike had his "mate" a locksmith, to get the lid open as the mechanism had jammed.

He made it worse, so when I picked the bike up, the box went into the boot of the car and I spent two weeks finding the issue.

Needless to say, when I explained the mistake that his mate made, he was not exactly interested.

If you miss one important aspect when reassembling, you will find it almost impossible to press the barrel to actuate the opening mechanism.

It jams, and you will never get the lid to close evenly .
