Hi folks,
I am new to this forum. I wonder if anyone has had similar experience and willing to share any insights.
After a day's ride heading home, the bike (R1200RT-2018) went into limp mode with no prior history of trouble. In the limp mode max speed was 34 mph before the ECU restricted revs.. It was just enough to get home but very frustrating and confusing.
Next day my friendly local bike mechanic with his diagnostic kit managed to understand it is something to do with throttle value sensor.... He declared it is out with his skills and i should seek help from BMW.
The bike has been an absolute joy since new and only has 8000 miles.

Hi and welcome to the forum
I would search for a local specialist if you can
But it could be a simple fix as a new throttle position sensor or something like that

Apologies for tardy reply. Ideally NE Scotland. I had a poor experience from the local dealership with my last bike R1100RT so reluctant to repeat that. Eventually I ended up in Douglas Parks Motorrad Glasgow would you believe...!! The Edinburgh Motorrad where the bike was purchased brand new just could not be bothered. Anyways now Glasgow guys have done the diagnostics and a Left Throttle Body is needed. It is now on order from Germany and should be here in a 7 - 10 days thanks to Brexit bureaucracy. I expect fitting within a day or so. Happy days...
