Hi All,
My 2011 r1200rt is currently not starting or cranking. Battery is 1 year old, currently 12.7 volts. Just replaced start/kill switch as I though this was bad - but it did not fix the problem. Starter relay has 12v on terminal 5, nothing on terminal 3 when start switch is pressed. If i remove the relay from the bike and apply 12v to terminals 1 and 2 I can hear the relay click, and there is continuity between 3 and 5 - but this does not happen when relay is installed in bike and start switch is pressed. Do you think this is a bad relay, or is there a start up sequence/ safety check that happens before allowing power to pass to the relay?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Justin

At 12.7 volts, your starter should be spinning. There is no real required starting sequence. I trust that you are in neutral? Have you dropped the bike recently? Are your battery terminals fully tight?

Yes the bike is in neutral (i've tried to start the bike with the side stand up and down). I have not dropped the bike. I checked the battery terminals and they are tight. I removed the terminals and left them off for an hour to see if that would maybe reset something in the computer.

Try side stand up with the clutch pulled in
The gear position sensor might not be picking up that it's in neutral

Good Morning,
I've tried with the side stand up and down with the clutch pulled in and unfortunately there is no change. I tried 1st gear, neutral, and 2nd gear.
