Does anyone know if I have the type with the element as a mat around the bars, or the element in the grips...?
ANY opinion/ advice/guidance warmly welcomed!

Looking at these replacement grips by Hornig and the video, my guess is that the element is a mat around the bars.

The heating element is a mat type. If taking off the rubber grips be careful that you do not cut too deep as to cut the element. If you do cut the element it can be a pain to repair them but most of the time they can't be fixed.
