Radio speaker housing 2014 onwards

Post by Steve398 »

I put a post up on the Aliexpress thread recently regarding
the inner housing cup (?) that protects the radio speakers, having read that a rider had used the cups from a broken set of speakers to provide a secure and waterproof pocket behind the speaker grills.

I wondered about if it may be possible to make a set with a 3D printer, not that I have one  and would there be a market for it?

I saw someone who used the 4 litre milk bottle cut down to fit in the hole to provide a cubby hole!

Wouldn't be waterproof though

Although you could drill a hole in the bottom to let the water out like we used to on old Land Rovers

I actually got the 3D printer idea from an inexpensive set of Dewalt cordless battery holders that my Son-in-law wanted to his birthday which were £3 each.

It didn’t seem much of a stretch to suppose the inner speaker cups would be pretty simple to copy and print.

Just a thought…

It’s a good idea Steve. I’m trying to think of a material or membrane I can use to line the inside of the speaker grill that’s waterproof instead the cloth, any ideas ?.

I just use zip-lock plastic bags. No moisture ingress issues in 9 years now.
