Quick question. Pannier Dimensions

Post by Col Beet »

I’m talking delivery of a new RT this week . It’s my intention to wrap the top of the pannier lids with PPF. Anyone help with the pannier dimensions so that I ensure I purchase the right size. Lengths are fine . Widths are variable.

Many thanks.

You can buy a ready made kit from either BMW themselves or through NIPPY NORMANS already cut to size for £34.00

Thanks Loopers. I’ve got a relative who does this sort of thing in the motor trade. He’ll give me a hand to do it if I supply the kit. I’ve used pre cut kits previously on my GSs. Never really found them to be up to much . Thought that I’d give him the chance in this occasion.

Understood, I have the kits from BMW and Nippy Normans. I wasn't aware that the BMW kit came as part of a package deal with top box and inner bags so purchased the other option in readiness. The BMW kit appears to work and fit well having kicked the top of the pannier numerous time while getting used to the bike. I'll try and sort out the Nippy Kit and take some measurements for you but I can't promise how quick I'll be as I'm in the middle of prepping for a short trip leaving in 2 days.

I got some from here https://tonyjamesdesigns.com/product/r1250-rt-2021-on/ for my 2016 RT. Excellent as you don’t know they are on the pannier tops and go on really easily. They have protected mine as I’m always hitting the panniers with my boot. A quick wipe over and the mark has gone.

Managed to grab 10minutes so I hope this is useful. I have tried to outline the the 2 sections of film with a pencil so that they are more visible and the measurement are all in millimetres. You will need to make an opposing set for the other side.
