BMW R1200RT LC LE 2014 rear pannier BARS

Post by TPT »

Hello.

I am new to the forum,

I am seeking clarification as to why the rear pannier protection bars do not seem to fit.

They were advertised to 2014-2018 BMW R1200RT, I am having problems trying to fit the lower leg of the bars.
The top part that goes onto the part looks ok, it has 2 bolts and 2 nuts to secure it to the bracket.

The lower leg of the bar has an L shaped lug that goes to the rear footpeg.

For some reason it does not look right ,I am assuming the rear pannier bars are for an older model ?.

I am unsure as to uploading a picture.

Any help appreciated.

It may help if you say what make the rear pannier bars are, there are several manufacturers that do them.

Re. Pics - under the bit you write on (a technical term) there’s 2 tabs marked ‘Options’ and ‘Attachments’, click on the latter and attach your photo, resizing it if necessary. It’s pretty simple because even I can manage it!

Please find te link below.
the bracket at the top is fitted fine, the bottom can not go to the rear foot rest as the pin needs to be reinserted and C clip put back on.

Looking at all other models of pannier bars they all have a bar going to the main frame at the bottom, that is why I am assuming they must be for an older RT model ?. cheers

That's why I suggested a photo of the whole set up as it is.Seems odd to fit to the footrest hanger,if the bike went over it would snap it off, defeating the object.Or as the OP suggested, for an older model.

They would fit a 06 to 10 bike, wrong fittings. Can you post a picture from a distance?
