First off, I have tried the "search" box and Google. But found no info.
I rode for the first time my new to me 2016 R12RT.
When i was on the motorway, about 40% of the time when going over a bump there was a clunk.
You did not hear it, but felt it though the bike from the rear. Both the wife and i felt it when it happened.
It did take the enjoyment out of the ride as i was drawn to it, and was waiting for the next clunk.
I have had a shaft driver bike before and it never did this. I'm thinking it could be a suspension linkage problem.
Any help please would be great.
Thanks Martin

Re: Clunking from the rear
Have you checked the rear shock for wear/leaks? That would correspond with 2-up and the clunk occurring on bumps…
BMW only warranty their susp for 3 years/30,000 miles, whichever comes first, mine’s a 2018 and the susp has been replaced by TT Suspension which is considerably less expensive than BMW.

Re: Clunking from the rear
Thank you. I will tell the dealer i'm buying it from to check the rear shock.
Edit...
Just to add, the bike has 18,400 on it.

Re: Clunking from the rear
Don’t know if you’re aware but there’s an ‘Enhancement’ program (definitely not a Recall !) for (some of?) the RT’s where BMW will replace the footrest circlips, check for problems on the shaft crown wheel, drill the housing and insert a one-way valve, and perform a software update FOC.
The link is here but it will need the VIN number…

If you’re buying from a BMW dealer then they should be aware, if not then speak to a dealership to arrange.

Re: Clunking from the rear
The dealer im buying it from has it booked in to BMW on the 14th December to have to 3 outstanding recall done, The top box brake light fixed and to see where the clunking is coming from. I just have to wait and see. I think the dealer is getting pissed off with me as i keep popping in to ask question. But we are buying 2 motorcycles from them.
