Top box case

Post by EasyRider »

Ok. am i going mad, but why is there no handle on the BMW OEM large top box.
I took mine off yesterday so i can start removing the bodywork.
I found no handle and because of the size it was a pain to carry indoors.

Am positive it should have a pop-out handle above the locking flap

Probably because the designers did not expect it to be frequently removed and carried around. What with a wiring harness and all it’s not really a quick and clean process as with the panniers.

The older 49L top box has a handle, the newer 49L Top Box has provisions to install a additional brake tail light. I've have both and would prefer the light. Although they should have figured out how to make half of that light to blink with the turn signal too.

Correct, my top box has a handle. Funny thing is, since I've installed this top case, I've never had a need to remove it. So convenient to easily store 2-helments.
