Insurance

Post by EasyRider »

So I needed to sort insurance out on the RT.
I had to start a new insurance with 0 NCD.
I went with performance direct (Aviva) using compare the market websit.
When i got my quotes i did go for the cheapest at £158 fully comp.
I always double check the info is right when i'm transferred between websites.
I found a couple of things wrong so edited the quote. I checked it 3 times to make sure.
The quote i got back was £119.42 fully comp with a £500 Compulsory excess (age 55).
All the quotes i got with 0 NCD had a £500 Compulsory excess.
For the value of the bike i thought the price was very good.
It's like with all insurances, you don't know how good they are until you need to make a claim.

Edit...

I still have to ring them up tomorrow.
Where it asked for "does it have a immobiliser". It did not list BMW, so i put "Manufacturers immobiliser".
I got the paperwork emailed to me AFTER i had paid. Reading though it i found they had put "Honda H.I.S.S.2" for the immobiliser fitted. D'oh

Well this is a first for me.
Had an email this morning from the broker asking me to login to my account.
When i loged in i found that they wanted some more info from me.
The info they wanted were 2 photos.
One of Artie in the garage, and one of the garage to show it was at my home address.
I've had this before from other insures asking for a copy of my licence or proof of NCD.
But i've never been asked for proof of where i keep the bike.

That's a new one on me too!

Usually they would leave that until something happens then try and wriggle out of a payout

How’s everyone finding their insurance renewal quote's?

I’ve recently received an email from LV over the insurance for our 2 cars, advising me that prices for parts/repair/etc. have all risen, which is I suppose an indication that this years premium is going to be painful!

So when I checked out the bike insurances, expecting the worst, I found that it had actually dropped by £3 from last year… how does that work then?

Sadly, when you get to ‘a certain age’ they start raising the prices… that’s why I’m surprised it’s gone down.

I know from a previous post that you’re only a young whippersnapper!

Just been through insurance for the wife's car!

Just got a newer car so I was expecting more anyway but it was double the price of last year's on the renewal 😳

Eventually settled for £100 more at £340 for the year

My bike has always been competitive! Currently £180 with bennetts with all the extras and European breakdown cover

Just had a quote from Bikesure, Aviva underwriting, 2019 RT, Legal, comp, no claims protection - £129, £30 less than last year. Cornmarket renewal £199, before negotiation. So surprised.

Why is insuring 2 bike on a multibike policy more expensive that 2 separate policies? I got quoted over £500 for my 2018 R1250RT & 2011 F650GS with Bennetts, but £160 & £130 if insured separately with Be Moto

When i rang up my insure to see how much it would cost to add the RT to my Gen2 Hayabusa policy.
They wanted more for the remaining 6 months than it cost me for a years insurance with zero NCD from another insure.
