Power To The People

Post by Capt Sisko »

I have an ’18 R1250RT LE that has both extra lights and a power socket for when I want the heated clothing on. What I want to do is to work our what electrical power I will have spare (if any) should I turn the lot on.

I can see from the specifications that the bike can produce 508w, (albeit a tad less at low revs), I know how many amps my accessories will draw and what else to allow extra for the lights at night/bad weather, heated grips etc, but I can’t find anywhere what the bike uses just pootling along during day, i.e. everything else off, just its CPU, fuel pump, dashboard, Angel Lights etc doing their stuff. I know the bike has a warning system to tell you if you're taking more than the alternators giving, but I'd rather not go that far in the first place.

I have read on elsewhere it's 318watts, but this was second-hand information from an unknown source and sounds rather a lot to me, (though I'm no expert on these matter and after-all, we do ride computers nowadays).

Anyone have this information?
