Hello from York UK

Post by Rusty »

Hello all,

I've been using this forum for various information so I thought I might introduce myself.

I bought a 2011 R1200RT this summer on a whim. I'd decided to do some touring in northern Europe and there was no chance of me doing that realistically on my other bikes, so I quickly justified the purchase of another... Along with the touring it's also become a favourite and probably now the bike a ride the most.

I bought it from a specialist dealer near Holmfirth who I think did a good deal. Extras I've added to date are; BMW comfort seat, HEED crash bars front and back, a GPS mount above the clocks, foam comfort grips, optimate charging lead.

The only thing I'm not too keen on are the Maxxis Supermaxx ST tyres it's fitted with. I'm thinking to change to Pirelli Angel GT's as they have good reviews and not as expensive as some of the very new models.

I'm hoping for some more touring in the summer but still make fairly regular trips to Seaways cafe in Fridaythorpe. Give me a shout if you're ever around there.

Welcome to the site
I can highly recommend the Angle GT tyres. Remember that the rear has to be "A" rated for the rear. "A" stands for heavy duty
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.

I’ll give it a try. I think I’ve only been there once.

After 7 thousand miles in a year on my 2011 RT I’ve decided to get rid and replace it with; another RT.

I’ll include a photo if I can work out how to..
