Hi,
I’ve been loitering around the forum for a couple of Weeks and whilst I am waiting for my tea to brew and my heater to warm up my garage, I thought I would introduce myself to the RT forum.
I bought my 2017 R1200RT LC (16k mileage) a couple of weeks ago and I am just beginning to start to understand it. This is my 4th BM but I return to the fold after 17 years with a VFR. How complex can it be after keeping a 23 year old VFR?
My purchases so far:
R&G crash protectors
Bumper engine guards. (Cheap from eBay but not sure about fitting them now)
Seat lowering bracket and rubber bungs (struggling to fit all parts as I am not sure there is enough clearance)
Givi Tankbag ring. (discovered it fouls on the switchgear on full lock)
Priority jobs to do:
Deep clean and apply ACF 50 up underneath and GT85 everywhere else.
Remove the centre stand and repaint.
For me, bike forums are the collective source of shared knowledge about our addiction that is motorcycling. Looking forward to the using and helping the BM RT forum collective mind.

Welcome aboard, where in West Sussex are you?
Re. the centre stand, may I suggest you get it powder coated? I bought one that had this done, together with the centre bar being wrapped with self-amalgamating tape. It’s far more robust to the debris thrown up by the front wheel.
Have fun with your new RT

I think IRC you are in the middle of Steve and me. To be arranged but the question of a mid-week, daytime meet-up has come up a couple of times. Would be available?

Not available midweek, but definitely keen on a weekend coffee meet at some point. I’ve just spent 4 hour polishing the bloody exhaust system. I know it will discolour as soon as l turn my back.
Slow in, fast out.

Fun isn’t it?
I always enjoy lying on my back washing off the sump and exhaust after a muddy run out too!

Am not. I'll be in Germany.
So there's more Sussex riders out there. Stop hiding
