The SW Motech mirros are very well made, but i would not have paid the RRP for them. Not even if i had a brand new GS. £100 I paid for them was the most i would of paid for any mirrors.

I’m sure they are, I’ve had several Motech products which are good quality, but it’s the shape of the Docs mirrors that appeal more to me.
I’ve currently got the little round stick-on jobbies, about £3 from Amazon, to help with the blind spot but the GS ones are on the wish list… however, when BMW did the shaft check they advised that all 3 discs are nearing the replacement limit :o so that’s taken care of this weeks pocket money!

if im right, you have a 2018 RT. The round mirrors wont work very well.
I found that the screen had to be upto my eye line for the mirrors to clear on full lock with the GS bars and extenders fitted.
Found the same with the Honda mirrors, but an improvement on the round bmw mirrors.
The standard 2014 onward bars are narrower so the mirrors will touch the screen sooner.
With the SW Motech mirrors i dont need the extenders and the mirrors clear the screen at chin hight.
I'm looking at taking an inch off each side of the screen so the mirrors dont touch on full lock when the screen is down.
Need to remember for the MOT the steering needs to be clear lock to lock.

If you look at the photo, where the red line is need to be cut down there for me to get a full clear lock to lock with the screen down. With the round bmw mirrors you would need to cut nearly 3 time more off the screen.

Also, if you have a Jurock screen, the mirrors fitted to the "pipe clamps" idea won't work as the stem fouls the screen.
[/quote]

As it happens I have the Jurock Werks Quiet Ride screen which will foul the mirrors anyway so that plan’s hit the dust!

So I’ll settle for Amazons finest rather than change or mess around with the best screen I’ve found for the RT.

Ok, so i have been down the workshop and trimed the screen on both sides.
I took a small amount off at a time. it took me 3 cuts.
I can now with the screen down move the handlebars lock to lock with out touching the screen.
So it should now pass an MOT as it is.

And my little handlebar bag from China came today. £9.41 posted on AliExpress. Which is fitted in the second photo.

Here is a before and after photos.

So i went down the garage this morning and looked at the screen.
I liked it, but was not totally happy with it.
So out came the masking tap and marker pen.
Once i got it to what i was happy with, i took the screen back off the bike.
Into the workshop i go, get my jigsaw with a fine tooth blade and cut the screen.
I think now that it is not as fussy with so many angles it looks better.
I was also able to raise the arm of both mirror upwards more to.

As you can see, there is plenty of room on full lock both sides.
There is a bit more room on the right full lock as the mirror mount is nearer the grip by about half an inch.

Nice job 👍 if you get a chance to try the Quiet Ride screen they really are very good… but hideously expensive! They do occasionally come up as 2nd hand, which is how I bought mine.

Don't think i need a quiet screen as the wife and i both have the new Shark Spartan GT Pro Carbon ECE 22.06 helmet
These helmets are the quietest helmets we have had. They are very good.
We got them last October i think from Fowlers in Bristol at £346 each.

As was said before the front brake line was a bit short on full left lock.
It was not tight, but i would of liked a bit more length (dont we all).
So i bought one of these 1.5" extenders which now gives that bit extra that was needed.
Front brake is cable tied on ATM, will leave it over night just to be shaw there are no leaks.
Second photo is on full left lock.
Might reroute the stop/start cable to.
