MU vs SE

Been a while but looking to reacquaint with an RT, which, for me at least, is probably 'the better bike'.

Going to look at a very nice 2012 MU on Tuesday. Always had SEs before and just wondering what the difference in spec is.

Would love to join you folks on your foreign jolly but sadly have to limit expectations these days. Thanks in advance for the knowledge.

* P.S. Anyone thinking of selling or trading? Looking for a 2010-13 TC, sensible miles, well presented, good service history. *

Hi Chris, the sales invoice for my 2012 Camhead says it is an R 1200 RT SE. The only reference to MU (Model Update) is on the V5C registration certificate. I don't think that the latter has anything to do with the specification of the bike. My 2010 Camhead was the same specification.

On my recent travels looking for a bike I was confronted with a rather discouraging situation.
I was in my local dealers looking at a bike and enquiring about a test ride.
The sales chap looked at me rather coyly and asked my age.
Here's me thinking 'I know I'm endowed with youthful good looks but surely I look old enough to hold a full bike licence'.
I think he caught the WTF look on my face and changed his question to ' Are you over 70'?
Apparently their new insurers won't allow test rides before twenty something and over 70s.
I told him in a polite fashion what I thought about this and proceeded to straddle the bike.
Within milliseconds, both hips locked up with that excruciating pain known by many and we all had a jolly good laugh.

Reality strikes again and it's a b@stard!

Don't worry Chris it will pass, what you have experienced is what every GS rider experiences everytime they get on and off the GS.

Not telling you how to suck eggs or anything. But do you stand on the foot peg to get on and off.
I have started doing it this way and it makes it a lot better getting on and off.
My hips are ok, but my knees are FK.

Been there and back many times over the years, grit teeth and carry on. Thought SIm always looked like that but better be careful. Funnily enough I've had a few Gelandestrasses and other 'Adventure' bikes and didn't get the problem. Better joint angles I think but thanks for your concern.
